New Orleans legend Joseph “Zigaboo” Modeliste is a master drummer and musical innovator, who is widely recognised as the No 1 funk drummer and percussionist in the world. In a career spanning 30 years, Zigaboo has not only been releasing albums as part of R&B group The Meters, but has also collaborated with artists such as Keith Richards, Robert Palmer and Dr John, as well as releasing material over 56 albums worldwide.

Zigaboo is supremely respected by fellow artists and fans alike, and has also been quoted as being a major influence on hip-hop music. His work has been sampled by artists such as Run DMC, NWA, Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, Public Enemy and Beastie Boys only to name a few, and featured in films such as Jackie Brown and 8 Mile.
