Get Ready For Classic Tale With A Twist This Christmas

The producers of the smash-hit ‘Fairy Tales of the Unexpected’ are returning to The Ropetackle Arts Centre this coming festive season with another fantastic show after wowing audiences during the summer of 2012.

This time, promising fun for all the family, LP Creatives debut ‘Treasure Island’ for six show days only over Christmas week (23rd, 24th, 26th – 29th December).

The audience will be taken on a magical trip into a world of Pirates and Princesses as one of the nations favourite children’s novels is given a panto twist.

See Jim Hawkins, Dame Dolly, The ghost of ‘Billy Bones’, Seadog Sally and of course Long John Silver along with the stars of Shorehams children’s dance talent, star in lots of adventures in a show packed with action, singing, cheering and booing, puppets, lots of colourful costumes, and maybe even a monkey or two!

The show is the brainchild of popular comedian and entertainer Tom Beard.

Tom is no stranger to pantomime, having appeared in number one venues over the past ten years, where he frequently had children (and adults) doubled up with mirth at his comedy antics.

Tom said: “Everyone knows and loves the original pirate story but you won’t have enjoyed the tale quite like this before. We want our young audience to get involved with lots of shouting, cheering, singing and laughing, and the adults can’t just sit quietly in their seats. We are after non-stop fun and laughter, whilst also staying as close to the original tale as possible”

“We’ve respectfully kept to Robert Loius Stevenson’s swashbuckling tale which everyone can enjoy, along with some humour for both the adults and the children. The one thing we can guarantee is that everyone will leave with a smile on their face.”

It is the latest project for producers LP Creatives who are fast building a strong reputation for their family shows and pantomimes around the country. Tom explained: “We had a hugely successful Fairy Tales of the Unexpected summer season at a number of top theatres and are really excited to now bring this production to The Ropetackle for the first of hopefully many pantomimes.”

‘Treasure Island’ is a spectacular children’s show created to spark the children’s imagination whilst also entertaining all the accompanying Mums, Dads, Grandmas and Granddads! It features a professional cast of actors and local children.”

“Here be a swashbuckling, show-stopping, sail-flapping, hand-clapping, toe-tapping, barnacle busting pantomime twist on Robert Louis Stevenson’s adventures on the high seas! We’ve got the telescope, the treasure map and the schooners at the ready!”

“So weigh anchor mateys, bring your booty and prepare to set sail for magic, puppets, monkeys, parrots, tropical islands, Pirates, Princesses and MORE blummin’ Pirates!!”
