There’s so much to do this weekend in Brighton, from comedy festivals to motorcycle events we’ve got it covered so check out our highlights and have a great time!

All Weekend:

Brighton Comedy Festival – It’s the second weekend of this great annual month of shows and stand-up, this weekend’s highlight has to be ‘Knightmare Live’ an onstage interactive re-imagining of the hits kids tv show at The Old Market.

Brighton Comedy Fringe – The cost friendly little brother of Brighton Comedy Festival, with all tickets under £10, Brighton Comedy Fringe Upstairs at Three and Ten is the place to be for all the up and coming acts on the comedy scene. Check out ‘Chris Fitchew: Just Jack’ this weekend, a fast and furious show full of hap hazard characters.

Subversive Design – From high fashion to high street consumerism, cheeky ceramics to controversial chairs, provocative lamps to ‘rubbish’ jewelery, this major exhibition at Brighton Museum subverts your preconceptions and challenges your relationship with objects you use on a daily basis.

Regency Colour – A show at the Royal Pavilion including two display areas and new interpretation exploring Regency understandings of colour and the interior decor of the Royal Pavilion. The displays will explore Regency colour theory, the different colour schemes used in the Royal Pavilion, why certain colors were used, and the palace’s innovative and radical use of colour during this period.

Saturday:

Comedy Club 4 Kids – You and the kids can have a great laugh at this afternoon of comedy at Komedia. Cracking entertainment for everyone over the age of six with the best comedians on the UK circuit doing what they do best… but without the rude bits!

One Inch Badge Presents: Nadine Shah + Support – A great gig at The Hope as part of a European Tour, Nadine Shah is a vocalist/pianist and has recently completed her debut album “Love Your Dum and Mad”, a “darkly rich and soulful, thrillingly muscular voice as irrefusable as the pull of the tides in the coastal village where she grew up.”

The Physics House Party – The ever popular Physics House Party returns to Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar with The Physics House Band headlining and curating the evening until the early hours. Featuring some of Brighton & the UK’s best math rock / tribal pop / electronica acts, this event is always packed out, so make sure you get down early!

The New Wave Tour – The New Wave is a cross section of the most interesting and exciting new comedy acts in the country. The nucleus of this year’s tour is made up by Jamie Demetriou, Claudia O’Doherty and Liam Williams; three incredible cutting-edge acts tipped for future stardom. They will be joined by a selection of other brilliant up-and-coming performers, alongside some extra special guest MCs all at The Old Market.

Sunday:

Brightona 2013 – Dust off the leathers, oil your engines, feast your eyes and dance your socks off!! Many lavish motorbikes bound to get a few jaws dropping! Expect a fun packed time with some amazing motorcycles, Hot Rods, Live Music, Stalls and not forgetting The Wall of Death!! Plus two outside stages with rock ‘n’ roll! All on Madeira Drive and in support of The Sussex Heart Charity.

Northern Soul All Dayer – With the BRIGHTONA motorcycle event on Madeira Drive, Night Owl present an all day feast of Northern Soul at Volks featuring DJ’s Alfie Linney, Steve Johnson, Kieran Lockyear, Andrew Vella, Linda Seddon + loads more plus it’s free!

Brighton Acoustic Guitar Festival – One day festival featuring some of the UK’s top guitarists at The Brunswick. Featuring the amazing talents of Chris Woods, Sean De Burca, Matt Midgely, Luke Gavin, Chris Marsh, Kevin Minney, Edd Mann, Pipe & Tabor, Bella, Oliver Chandler + Warsaw Radio.

Racing Minds – Fresh from their smash-hit sellout-success at the Pleasance Courtyard at the Edinburgh Fringe, family-friendly improv comedy quartet Racing Minds kick-off a monthly residency at Brighton Komedia with their full-length ripping yarn that is entirely different every time, ‘Aaaand Now For Something Completely Improvised’.
