Jubilee on Broadway – Monday 4 June
Jubilee on Broadway will celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with live music from every decade of her 60 years reign. 15 bands and singers will perform songs from the 50’s through to present day covering every style of music during her reign.
The Broadway will be turned into a Street Music Party, closed to traffic, the bars and cafes will extend their seating areas out onto the road allowing residents of Mid Sussex to chill out with friends and family.
Jubilee Record Break – Monday 4 June
Former BBQ Chef of the Year, Chequers head chef Wayne Cortilla will flip burgers and sizzle sausages for a record breaking 33.5 hours over the Jubilee weekend. All meals are £5 with profits going to Teenage Cancer Trust and St Catherine’s Hospice. The attempt starts at 12pm on Monday 4th June and it is hoped the 24-hour bar will help Wayne’s supporters survive the long night ahead. On Tuesday 5th June, Wayne will still be at it: music from The Honky Tonk Band should help keep him awake plus the Slaugham Village Street Party begins at 5pm. The attempt will end at 9.30pm on Tuesday 5th.

Black Power Mixtape 1967-1975 – Wednesday 6 June
Venue: Cowley club
Spliced together from recently rediscovered Swedish documentary footage, The Black Power Mixtape sheds new and interesting light on the Black Panther Party For Self Defence. Set to a great soundtrack, the film includes intimate interviews with Angela Davis, Stokely Carmichael, Eldridge Cleaver and others. 2011. Documentary. FREE/Donation.

Soundproof, Producers Open Club Night – Friday 8 June
SOUNDPROOF is back at micro upstairs at Digital Brighton, this is a unique opportunity for producers to have a platform to showcase their work, road test their own productions/works in progress,submitted and mixed on the night through a function one sound system, in a club atmosphere, this is an open night for electronic producers and we believe something of real benefit to anyone involved with electronic music production. The perfect place to meet and network with like minded people with the same passions.

This year’s Naked Bike Ride is looking like it’s going to be a big one!!! The idea is that Sussex Uni will be having its own feeder ride so we can all arrive in strength at Preston Park, where the main ride will be leaving from. This will show a sense of community among the students, as well as highlight the dangers of cycling on Lewes Road.
