Best Zumba Classes in Brighton & Hove

Fitness classes are evolving. Zumba to name one, is a combination of what is best about a work out. Social, fun, effective and safe. A quick survey declared Zumba the best fun you can have getting fit. You can even get a virtual version on your Nintendo Wii! It is a spicy, hot, hip swivelling workout where African, Caribbean and Latin dance moves are combined with aerobics/fitness.

We’ve selected some of the best classes in Brighton & Hove area.

Sherryn Watkin – Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays

Venue: St Pauls School, tue (6 – 7pm), thurs (7-8pm), Sat (10.15am-11.15am)
Sherryn is qualified to teach Zumba Fitness, Zumbatomic (that’s Zumba for under 15s) and is one of few Zumba instructors licenced to teach the new Zumba programme: Zumba Sentao, the thrilling chair-based class that improves cardiovascular performance, enhances muscle strength, definition and endurance, stabilizes the core and extends flexibility all using the music and choreography you know and love from your regular Zumba class. £5

Zumba Fola with Ernest Obeng – Mondays

Venue: The Happy Cell 7-8pm
Add an African beat to your Zumba moves! These zumba classes are taught by a professional dance teacher who has experience in many dance styles. Ernest Kwame Obeng is a skilled performer and teacher of West African dance and drumming, streetdance and Zumba fitness. He has nine years of experience and has even appeared on BBC Strictly African Dancing (2005).

Sofia Upton –  Wednesdays -currently stopped teaching her classes since January due to injury.

Venue: JACKIE’O 6.30pm-7.30pm

Dance Brighton with Helen Tagg – Wednesdays

Venue: One Church, 7-7.45pm

Dance with Annelies Silverwood – Thursdays

Venue: Brighton Youth Centre 7pm-8pm and 8.30pm-9.30pm
Annelies Silverwood is a qualified Zumba Instructor teaching classes across Brighton & Hove. She is a salsa dancer and has been teaching salsa, reggaeton and other sexy latin dances for years. She spent a several years travelling frequently to Cuba to train with some of the most incredible dance companies over there and she tries to bring the passion, flavour and energy that is abundant in Cuba to my Zumba classes. Come and join in the fun and see for yourself.

The Zumba Zone – Sunday

Venue: Fitness First Gym 11.30am – 12.30am
Federico is the most experienced and original Zumba® instructor in England with the most popular classes in the areas were he teaches. He was born and brought up in Ibague, Colombia, the country were Zumba® originates from. He was a gym instructor in Bogota for 10 years before coming to the UK to study English. In Colombia, he used to work in the very same gym as Beto Perez, the originator of Zumba®, then teaching a dance fitness class called “Rumba” hailing from the capital of music, Ibague, and a family of professional dancers, dancing runs through his veins.
