Eugene Ionesco’s utterly bonkers comedy of manners and (lack of) communication is coming to Brighton Fringe this May following a sell-out run at The Network Theatre in February. Welcome to the home of Mr & Mrs Smith – in the suburbs of London. As we all know: what happens in the suburbs stays in the suburbs. There will be wars fought, battles won, sex, death and fire. Lots of talk about fire (it’s too highly taxed). We’ll meet Mr & Mrs Smith in their passionate, doomed marriage; Mr & Mrs Martin (the Richard Briers and Felicity Kendall of the outfit), Mary the Maid and despairing “passable” detective and The Captain of the Fire Brigade – he’ll tell you a story or three.

Slip of the Lip are a brand new theatre company formed in 2015 after being thrown together by fate and having our passion for absurdist theatre ignited. In a play which is often seen as an inexplicable collection of non-sequiturs, our ensemble brought these characters to life and tell their stories with vigour. We invite you on this journey with us, however bizarre it may be – and although you may not have a clue what these people are going on about, they are human beings you love, hate, laugh at and despair for in equal measure.

“The cast drew every ounce of absurdity and humour out of the plays, turning what could have been a slightly tedious evening into a very funny one”…”Exceptionally well acted by a hugely talented cast.” – Loitering in the Theatre

After Brighton Fringe the company will embark on a run Upstairs at The Gatehouse in July and are currently in talks with The Cockpit – finalising their involvement in 2015’s Camden Fringe.
