What To Wear Now: Jewellery & Accessories Trends For Summer 2016
With the promise of spring just around the corner, comes the clearing of closets around the country
as women make way for a new season of clothes and accessories.
As an independent jewellery and accessories stylist for boutique-style jewellery label Stella & Dot, my diary is already filling up as customers clamour to get hold of the latest jewellery trends. As with all things fashion, the jewellery trends run seasonally with big launches for Spring/Summer and Autumn/Winter.
The big news for the 2016 summer season is layering, delicate statement pieces and tassels all packaged up in the tone of the moment which is turquoise, not forgetting a good dash of orange. Just looking at the accessories makes you think sun washed, palm lined beaches and who wouldn’t want to be dreaming of those when our outlook is still grey and freezing.
The key to this trend is to keep each piece delicate and simple. Try layering up two or three individual pieces at differing lengths to create a unique look. If you lack the confidence to put things together then there are loads of pre-layered pieces out there which take the guess work out of it.
Bold can be beautiful but sometimes less really is more. A delicate necklace can still make a statement when it plays with texture and colour to create something eye catching. If you are someone who, like me, lives in jeans and grey t-shirts, adding a statement necklace can be all you need to take your outfit to the next level in one simple step. Oh and heels!!
It seems as though tassels have been having a moment for a while, specifically on handbags. Now, they are moving to your jewellery and the result is some really fun styles especially when you add a pop of colour.
Orange is the new black
Not a jumpsuit I hasten to add but more like bold flashes of colour on bags and scarves. I already mentioned I’m a fan of the simple grey t-shirt but orange and grey or even navy is a really great pairing for summer.
With a wealth of styles available on the high street and online, now’s the time to invest in your new season accessories wardrobe. Those seemingly small additions to your outfit really do pull everything together and will have your friends wondering – how does she look so polished?!
