Sell charity Christmas cards from pop-up shops located in a variety of premises, including churches, museums, tourist information centres, libraries, community centres and within other retail organisations. Shops are open for 6-8 weeks in the run-up to Christmas.

The nation’s biggest food collection. They need volunteers for their Neighbourhood food collection across December 3rd, 4th and 5th at a number of local Tescos. The Neighbourhood Food Collection is a partnership between Tesco, FareShare, and the Trussell Trust.

Micro-volunteering are actions that benefit a worthy cause, where the main bulk of the task can be completed on demand in one or more sessions of up to 30 minutes, either from a person’s home or on the go. They involve little or no commitment and are easy to participate in, such as writing to a sick child.

Provide Christmas Day Lunch for people in the city who would otherwise be spending the day on their own. They normally cater for around 120 guests. There is a range of ways in which you can get involved including helping with transport, kitchen duties, table duties, clear up duties, cloakroom duties.

An organisation that aims to reach out to older people who feel lonely and isolated within society. They are planning a Hamper Packing programme in December (dates and place tbc) and are looking for volunteers.

Christmas Volunteering BrightonTrussell Trust

Provides a minimum of three days emergency food and support to people experiencing crisis in the UK. The Trussell Trust partners with churches and communities to open new foodbanks nationwide. There are almost 400 Trussell Trust foodbanks, with three opening each week to meet a growing need. They currently have food bank in Shoreham and another under development at Whitehawk.
