Merkaba is Brighton’s stunning cocktail bar
Located at the epicentre of myhotel Brighton is the stunning lounge and cocktail bar merkaba. The lounge bar is a favourite for locals and visitors alike set in the heart of the North Laines (opposite the Library). With sublime interiors designed by New York based Karim Rashid – merkaba aims to create an experience that is unlike any other bar in the much loved City of Brighton.
Once within merkaba you will encounter a curvaceous hard wood cocoon, which offers glimpses of lush light blue suede. You will be enveloped within a cocktail lounge that is soft yet edgy, innovative as well bold and profoundly beautiful. The 140 square metre lounge, with a capacity of 80 seated and a total of 120 standing is adorned by a 10 metre long gold leaf bar, behind which, a media bank of plasma screens showcases art and film commissioned from a range of local visual artists. On either side of the bar, two large aquariums blend into the curved walls enhancing the smooth surface.
The atmosphere flexes with ambient music and lighting to reflect the mood and time of day. The DJ booth tunes into life in the evenings, offering an eclectic mix of music and vibes, utilising an exceptional bespoke sound system. The exclusive cocktail list compiled by merkaba Bar Manager Harry Petrakas featured the bar’s signature cocktail, mytiki, along with the flaming light show that accompanies it, and also offering up a mix of traditional and progressive favourites. merkaba is a lovely addition for all visitors and for in house guests, merkaba is one of the chicest bars to be seen in Brighton.
