Get on your dancing shoes this September and get along to one (or more!) of the events in THE guide to Brighton’s Best DJ and Club Nights in September 2015 handpicked for you by the lovely folks at Vanishing Point!
Leftfield – Concorde 2
Together the People have pulled out the stops for its Saturday event after-party, with a DJ set from the legendary Leftfield.
Responsible for some of the classic dance records of the 90s, Leftism and Rhythm and Stealth, Neil Barnes returned this year with Alternative Life Source.
This is a sure fire way to keep the party going.
Date: Sat 5 September 11pm to 4am
Price: £18 + BF
Dan Shake – Patterns
As the first music head not out of Detroit to release on Moodymann’s Mahogani music, if ever a feat to certify someone’s knack for production, that would be the one.
If you didn’t cotton on to Dan Shake’s ‘3am Jazz Club/Thinkin’ groove machine last year then you’ve clearly been in hiding. With a follow up release on the excellent Black Acre label, collaboration with WOLF Music wunderkind Medlar, and a charming addition to Ninja Tune’s Solid Steel series, this guy is hot to trot.
Support from Ye Ye Fever, Charles Green and Mehtola.
Date: Sat 5 September 10.30pm to 4am
Price: From £5
Todd Edwards, Slimzee B2B Noodles – Patterns
After the outright carnage instigated at the last garage special, Patterns have crafted a line-up of ludicrous proportions.
House legend, Daft Punk collaborator (twice!), and Grammy winner Todd ‘The God’ Edwards steps in for the next edition. Accompanied by an exclusive B2B session from UK garage staples Slimzee & Noodles. Rounded off by the good folk over at Freerange.
Chris Headcount takes over the ground floor with a yet to be revealed lineup, if it’s anything like his last takeover, feet be moving!
Date: Fri 11 September 10.30pm to 4am
Price: From £6
Horse Meat Disco x Psychemagik – Patterns
The club night and DJ collective whose united status trumps any who dare challenge their international boogie concern.
Still leading their all-disco weekly show on underground radio staple, Rinse FM, continuing to channel their heated selections into a consistently dense tour schedule, and just generally being the go-to party selectors. We’re stoked to have the Horse Meat Disco boys down for a Saturday session of disco nugget digging.
Joining HMD down in the basement will be the antique banger restoring pair of Danny McLewin & Tom Coveney, collectively known as Psychemagik. A UK duo synonymous with known transcendent dance floor voyages, sensational edits & a collection of wax to behold.
Together, they’re ready to transform Patterns into a New York bath house.
Date: Sat 12 September 10.30pm to 4am
Price: From £8
Midland – Patterns
From hitting the scene back in 2010, collaborating with Hessle Audio cog Pearson Sound, Midland has developed a respectable knack for production, as well as coining a rep for being a foremost selector.
The chap has released on the respected likes of Aus Music & Phonica White, graced the likes of Output, Robert Johson & Fabric, & fashioned one of favourite online mixes to date (Midland @ Panorama Bar).
Expect, house, techno, electro, afro, disco, electronica and all other manner of musical treats as Midland step up for all night long duties.
Date: Sat 19 September 10.30pm to 4am
Price: From £8
Craig Charles – Concorde 2
Craig Charles, the King of Funk is back in Brighton this September for a huge night overflowing with groove-ridden-beats, rare-disco-treats and soul-jam-shakers for all those dance-floor funksters!
Special guests Renegade Brass Band join Sir Funk, Soul Casserole, Ewan Hoozami & Beatwell!
Date: Sat 19 September 11pm to 4am
Price: £12 + BF
Tim Sweeney & Leon Vynehall – Patterns
Inaugurated in the autumn months of 1999, the greatest show on earth AKA Beats in Space hasn’t skipped a breath of air (time) since its debut. Lead by everyone’s favourite radio voice Tim Sweeney, the show has been adorned by the best touring talent about, DJ Harvey, James Murphy, Four Tet, Ben UFO, Jamie xx, Todd Terje, and Carl Craig to name a very select few.
Besides being an endearingly enjoyable host, Tim Sweeney is also one of the most esoteric selectors about and will be making his long-awaited Brighton debut.
…and as if that wasn’t enough, joining him on the night will be the professeur of ‘beats that don’t fit neat, Leon Vynehall.
Date: Sat 26 September 10.30pm to 4am
