Decompression Magazine Presents: Petrol Bastard + Collisions + Junkie Kut – Leeds based industrial / techno-punks first show in Brighton at The Hope. Supporting everyone from XP8 & Sheep On Drugs to UK SUBS and 999 as well as touring with internet comedy phenomena KUNT & THE GANG, Petrol Bastard mix drum n bass, techno, psytrance and dubstep with punk attitude and a Nathan Barley humour. Chop Source – A musical melting pot of raw funk cuts & afro-rhythms from Africa & the tropics; where heavy basslines, spiritual vocals, monster horns & poly-rhythmic drumming are aimed squarely at the dancefloor! Join a journey through 1960’s & ’70’s heavyweight funk work-outs, afro-rhythms and more at The Black Dove.

Sub Bop – Sub Bop likes grunge, riot grrrl, alt 90s, agit pop, punk rock and shoegaze. They like sharing this love when they can. For those who like their music a little bit darker, a little bit dirtier and a whole lot more angry than most, Sub Bop is happy to help at Green Door Store.

Traumfrau is Burning – You can be whatever you choose – Every participant is a winner. Hosted by ‘Burlesque Sex Education Performer’, all singing, all dancing, all stripping, comedic-shock Divaaa, Rubyyy Jones. Think of your own title. Show us your outfit, your persona, your routine. Over or under the top. Get on Stage at The Blind Tiger and Crown yourself.

Brighton’s Best Showcase – Brighton’s best is a monthly showcase that will feature quality upcoming talent from the local area, handpicked by our host Chris Marsh. Each evening will consist of 4 acts so there will be an array of styles for all audiences at Three Graces. ________________________________________________________________________________


Le Chat Noir – This Parisian evening, at Proud Cabaret Brighton, inspired by the first modern cabaret clubs will feature classic burlesque and vintage cabaret. Under the domed ceiling of the decadent ballroom you will be treated to a splendidly luxurious evening with flittering fans and nipple tassels, alongside top class variety.

Soulful Strut – What a fantastic first year for Soulful Strut, Russ Dewbury’s new monthly Brighton residency! Taking the essence from the legendary Jazz Rooms club night and finding a great new home at Brighton’s Green Door Store the club night has been simply huge.

Spellbound – The ’80s club night for people who HATE ’80s nights, with Jenna Allsopp and Simon Price (the team behind legendary London glam night Stay Beautiful) playing alternative classics by the likes of Siouxsie, Soft Cell, Stray Cats, Smiths and Specials (and that’s just the eSSes). The C.R.E. – Campaign for Real Eighties – starts here!

Dizraeli and DJ Downlow DJ Set – Dizraeli & DownLow are fresh from the release of ‘Everyone’s A Winner – The Mixtape’. The pair have been making waves in the past 12 months, sharing stages in the UK and France with legends like The Pharcyde, Mos Def, Foreign Beggars, Beardyman and DJ Format, and constructing a live hip-hop show unlike anything you’ve seen before. At the Fortune of War.

80’s at the Globe – The best of classic 80’s tunes, with a few tunes you’ve never heard of to get you in the dancing mood!


Black Sunday Brighton Metalfest – Black Sunday Brighton Metalfest is back for its 7th year, the longest running Brighton metalfest is celebrating the natural talents of locals bands in one day; a rich mixture of thrash, death, progressive and melodic metal all under one roof. Take the time to listen to all the bands & get down to Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar!

Easter Sunday Soul Casserole Special – Funk & Soul, Reggae to Hip Hop, Remixes to Mash Ups. They promise to offer a night of unpretentious flavour and create a vibe that makes you want to get in the mix.  So dont be shy, why not give in to your taste buds and try a bit of spicy Soul Casserole?

The Brighton Beach Party – The Big soul .jazz funk. Soulfull House all dayer returns to the south coast. In The New York disco room at Oceana. Line-up includes:  Jeff Young, Bob Masters, Chris Brown, Paul Clarkster, Jonny Layton, Graham-grumpy Brown, Terry Mathews, Bill Griffin, Grant Fisher, Gilo, service brown, Pete Sinden.

Shake That – Bank Holiday Sunday – Every Bank Holiday Sunday the Funkyfish Club brings you something different. SHAKE THAT we play all night long Funky House, Electro, Tech House and Dance music and it’ s FREE entry!

Originally I´m from Bielefeld in Germany. I came as an international student to Brighton to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the City and to study.
