The UK’s largest celebration of food & drink returns to Hove Lawns for its seventh consecutive year. The ever-growing festival sees tens-of-thousands of visitors feast on a vast array of culinary activities. Top chefs demonstrate their skills in the Chef’s Theatre; wine, beer, and cocktails in the Drink’s Theatre and kids can join in at the Children’s Cookery Theatre. A vintage tea tent, a chilli market and a new tasting theatre where experts introduce festival-goers to new trends including raw food, Japanese soul and vegan are just a few of this year’s additions.

Europe’s biggest festival for new music returns to Brighton transforming the City into a mecca of emerging talent. The Great Escape festival presents over 400 up and coming artists from across the world to 18,000 music fans and industry delegates at 35 walkable venues across Brighton, spilling future sounds into the city’s streets, bandstands and open spaces. This is the best place to discover your new favourite band and see them in an intimate setting before they go on to headline major festival stages.

This vast celebration of all things creative has grown out of, and is inspired by, home-grown talent and has become the largest Fringe festival in England. More than 50% of participants are based in Brighton & Hove. The Fringe is committed to helping the arts flourish and is completely open-access, which means anyone can put on an event. A wide array of critically acclaimed shows and performers appear, attracting a huge audience every year and this year there’s over 900 events.

Now one of Europe’s leading arts festivals, this annual celebration of music, theatre, dance, circus, art, film, literature, debate, outdoor and family events takes place in venues both familiar and unusual across Brighton & Hove for three weeks.
Brighton Festival celebrates 50 years of commissioning and producing innovative arts and culture with Guest Director Laurie Anderson at the helm this May. A wild weekend of adventure, discovery and inspiration designed with families in mind. Celebrating its 5th birthday this May, Elderflower Fields is about giving kids the chance to enjoy new experience in sports, arts, wildlife, food and the great outdoors. Hove Park will be transformed again into a musical wonderland for families for a full day of fun this bank holiday with an addition of an ‘adult only’ Sunday.
The first ever Funk The Format sees legend acts including Soul II Soul and Norman Jay bring a touch of Nottinghill Carnival to the city, plus some regular Funk The Format’s club night DJ’s playing soul, reggae, latin, jazz, and funk.

Celebrating 25 years this summer, Blues on the Farm is set in 40 acres on the Sussex Coastal plain, a couple of miles south of Chichester. Presenting high quality music from World-class musicians in a family friendly, safe and relaxed atmosphere.

This award-winning family festival moves to its new home of The Hop Farm on the Sussex / Kent boarder. Grown from the ’90’s London party scene, Chilled in a Field is a small, independent festival for grown up ex-ravers and their kids. The weekend offers dance music from some of the UK’s top independent labels, a real ale festival bar with local beer and cider and a range of delicious street food. There’s activities for children and adults all day with bands, musicians, artists, science, theatre and performances, DJ’s and dancing well in to the night.

The Starboard Festival is a brand new festival of outdoor performance by, for and with children and young people from 0 to 21. Created in response to the inspiring and newly built Brighton Open Air Theatre (BOAT) this festival will create magical moments for children, young people and their families. The festival will contain an eclectic mix of live shows by local performers (by local schools, colleges, youth theatres and artists with a local following), plus outstanding family friendly shows from across the country.

A brand new three day music festival taking place at Holmbush Forest in Horsham over the August bank holiday. Promising to be a firm new medium sized event on the festival circuit, the line up so far includes Happy Mondays, Boney M, The Skints, Toploader, Mr C, Paul Hartnoll (Orbital), Dub Pistols, 808 State, X-Press 2, Bushwacka! Three days of seaside folk and fun! Presenting the best of British roots acts for one of the last music festival flings of summer. A three day event throughout Bognor Regis, the Southdowns Folk Festival has a lot going on. Dance sessions – workshops – festival food fayre – art and craft shows – archive folk film – children’s entertainment and much more.
