
Brighton Comedy: Our top Shows for February 2015
With Brighton Comedy having such a thriving scene, it can be hard to pick out and keep up with the shows that you really wouldn’t want to miss. Check out our guide below which is packed with outstanding comedy, whichever one you pick you’re pretty much guaranteed an excellent night of hilarity! Whatever your taste there’s something for everyone in our February comedy highlights. Krater Comedy Club
– Komedia
When people think of comedy in Brighton, their first thoughts are usually Komedia and Krater Comedy Club. A constant on the comedy scene for the past 15 years. Komedia has won Best Venue in the South an unprecedented 11 times and resident MC Stephen Grant has won Chortle Compere of the year multiple times.
It’s not hard to see why Krater is award winning. The acts are of a consistent high quality with top international and UK comedians every weekend. As well as the comedy they serve a full menu, so your whole evening is taken care of. A favourite of locals and weekenders.
Throughout February there will be 4 shows every weekend, including a Valentine’s Special, on not surprisingly February 14th!

Gittins To Know You – Sticky Mikes Frog Bar
If ‘alternative’ comedy is your thing this monthly night is definitely the night for you. Brian Gittins, now best known for Ricky Gervais series Derek hand picks his favourite acts, compering in his own unique way (as he puts it ‘badly’). Recent shows have included such TV luminaries as Harry Hill and Al Murray.
Februarys show’s headliner is American stand-up Rob Delaney, one of Variety’s magazines “Top 10 Comics to Watch” and winner of “Funniest Person on Twitter” at the Comedy Central Comedy Awards. Also performing is Lou Sanders, named as one of the top comics to watch by The Sun, Time Out, London is Funny and Dave TV. Plus, Brian’s naughty open spots.

Josie Long – Cara Josephine
– Brighton Dome, Corn Exchange
The three-time Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee and cult optimist is back! A show about love and being outdoorsy as a bear. Josie Long is the star of BBC Radio 4’s All of the Planet’s Wonders and Short Cuts and a regular contributor to the Guardian Guide. She’s recently appeared on BBC1’s Have I Got News For You, Channel Four’s 8 out of 10 Cats, Comedy Central’s Alternative Comedy Experience and Radio 4’s Just a Minute. Cara Josephine is her most personal show to date, and was the best-reviewed comedy show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2014.

Comic Boom
– Komedia
Komedia’s sell-out monthly night of exciting new comedy without the gamble. Although a newer act night, there are no concerns about the quality of this night. Chosen carefully by top Comedy Coach Jill Edwards, acts range from a top headline comic to “catch ’em while you can” rising stars of the comedy circuit. February’s headliner is Loretta Maine, ‘The finest female character comic around.’ Time Out. With a choice of 4 brilliant MC’s (Mock the Week’s Romesh Ranganathan, Paul McCaffrey, Paul F Taylor and Mark Simmons), it has never failed to be an excellent, evening of entertainment.

Laughtermarket
– The Old Market
The much loved ‘Laughtermarket’ at The Old Market Theatre returns for its biannual comedy treat.
Much missed as a monthly night on the Brighton comedy circuit, it’s now a twice-a-year delight, with strong line ups and loyal repeat audiences.
The February show has television and radio regular ZOE LYONS headlining (“Achingly funny” The Melbourne Age)) with excellent support from Nordic singer/songwriter/comedian Trine Munk, plus local legend the (‘Very, very funny’ – Jeremy Vine) Phil Lucas and (‘Young starlet of the comedy scene’ – Brighton Magazine) Joe Foster. This month sees award winning John Robertson visit Laughtermarket as guest M.C.
