The launch of the Brighton Fringe Festival 2013 programme took place this week, on February 26th, at The Loft. Julian Caddy is the managing director of the Brighton Fringe and we attended the launch to see what he had in store for this year.

The Brighton Fringe takes place from 4th May to 2nd June. The organisers of this year’s Brighton Fringe have said it will be the biggest and best to date. The festival takes places throughout Brighton and this year the performances will occupy over 170 venues. The programme for the four week event already consists of 685 scheduled events covering a variety of genres; ranging from cabaret theatre to comedy.

With nearly 700 performances occurring over the festival, we have picked out some of the shows that we think are worth checking out. As always, comedy has a large role within the festival and this year we will see the return some of our favourites. Due to popular demand Something Witty return to The Grand Hotel this May with this sell-out smash hit comedy and afternoon tea. Other top comedy acts to check out are Late Night Gimp Fight and Mike Wozniak who are coming back to entertain the city.

A different highlight amongst the vast event list is the ‘Hendrick’s Carnival of Knowledge’ which takes places from 24th – 27th May. The festival is designed to stimulate the mind and taste buds with a packed programme of entertainment such as, a Feast of Learning and the Dream Lab.

Tickets go on sale for Friends of Brighton Fringe at 10am on Wednesday 27th February and to the general public on Wednesday 6th March.
