There’s so much to see and do during Brighton’s Fringe festival, here Ink_d Gallery have helped narrow it down with their pick of the 10 best Brighton Fringe art exhibitions and events to attend during the month of May.


Brighton Fringe Art ExhibitionsCCA Art Bus by Sir Peter Blake – New Road

The CCA Art Bus is a mobile work of art designed by Sir Peter Blake; it is also a mobile art gallery. Sir Peter designed the Pop Art bus with the aim of creating a rock ‘n’ roll tour bus for art and artists. This May the bus will park up at the Brighton Fringe, selling works of art directly to the public.

Brighton Fringe Art ExhibitionsAll Creatures by Graham Carter – Ink_d Gallery

Throughout May, visitors to Graham Carter’s show will be transported into another world where creativity and imagination will run wild with the animals. As well as an exhibition showcasing brand new work from the artist, including ‘Alphanimals’, there will be workshops; an animal trail competition and a prize draw in aid of the RSPB.

Brighton Fringe Art ExhibitionsDrawing Circus Brighton Speigeltent: Bosco

Straddling the boundary between life-drawing workshop and live performance, the Drawing Circus can be found at the Spiegeltent during Fringe. Circus characters in full costume will freeze mid-act allowing the audience to recreate them in art form. Drawing materials provided.

Brighton Fringe Art ExhibitionsNational Open Art at Silo – Silo

A collaboration between National Open Art (NOA) on its UK tour with selected artists and SILO, the UK’s first zero waste restaurant. A treat for the taste buds as well as the eyes, there will be no better place to stop for coffee and food during Fringe.

Date/Time: 1st – 31st May | Mon-Weds 9am-5pm, Thurs-Sat 9am-8.30pm, Sundays 11am-5pm

Brighton Fringe Art ExhibitionsArt on the Breadline – BUCFP and Food Poverty UK – Jubilee Library

As part of a collaboratively funded university-community project, BUCFP (Brighton Unemployed Centre Families Project) users explore food poverty through the creation of a 3D art installation concerning what it means to be poor in the 21st century.

Brighton Fringe Art ExhibitionsPrint exhibition – open studio at The North Star Printmakers North Star Print Studio

This busy studio will be showing lovingly crafted works by Brighton printmakers from a range of practices. Hung alongside the tools and presses of their creation will be collections of traditional and contemporary art prints. A great opportunity to buy prints and learn about the production processes.

Brighton Fringe Art ExhibitionsArtrepublic Yard Sale – Jubilee Square

Buy art direct from the artist at the inaugural artrepublic Art Yard Sale. The event promises to be a fun way to engage with some of the hottest names in the art world, while picking up a bargain or two along the way. The full line up of artists will be announced on artrepublic.com over the coming weeks.

Brighton Fringe Art ExhibitionsAlice Walton Ceramics – Open Studio – Rosehill Workshops

Alice Walton opens her studio for the evening to show her handcrafted interior décor ceramics with guest jewellers. We love that instead of firing ceramics in the kiln, on the night Alice will be using it to cook homemade pizzas for guests to enjoy. Nice touch!

Brighton Fringe Art ExhibitionsArtists Open Houses – Various venues

A festival in itself, the Artist Open Houses comprises over 200 venues (mainly people’s homes) across the city. It’s a great opportunity to see artworks and snoop around inside the homes of creative city residents! Check the brochure as opening times between venues vary.

Brighton Fringe Art ExhibitionsBIF – Brighton Illustration Fair – One Church Brighton.

A two-day illustration Fair across two floors featuring talks, workshops, screenings, magazines, prints, comics, small press, art, and more. Expect screenings, talks and workshops.
