Hooray! August Bank Holiday is fast approaching! We’re here to help you make the most of your extra time off with our guide to the best club nights and live music Brighton has to offer. If you have any more suggestions, let us know in the comments.


All weekend

August Bank Holiday BrightonThe Stash DJs Weekender Your favourite neighbourhood party DJs are back with a Bank holiday Saturday and Sunday night double bill of dancefloor satisfaction. Expect a journey through all eras of hip-provoking dance floor gold. From Blues & Rockabilly, to Northern Soul & Ska, perhaps some Latin, some Funk, or some Hip Hop.

Fuzz 4 Freaks Weekender – A new weekender in the calendar for those of the paisley persuasion, featuring the best new up and coming live bands alongside disc jockeys playing the grooviest Freakbeat, Garage and Psych on the planet, all from 100% vintage vinyl of course. Expect a great sound system and Kaleidoscope visuals, think the Mousetrap meets the UFO and you got the picture!

August Bank Holiday BrightonThe Dickies + Asbo Retards – The Dickies are the clown princes of punk, not to mention surprisingly long-standing veterans of the L.A. scene. In fact by the new millennium, they’d become the oldest surviving punk band still recording new material. Their covers were just as ridiculous as their originals, transforming arena rock anthems and bubblegum pop chestnuts alike into loud, speed- blur punk- pop.  Think the Ramones meets L.A. hardcore

Dive Slow: Ghostpoet + More – Regular Sticky Mike’s bar night Dive Slow turns out a sticky treat of a summer party feat Ghostpoet, Alex Bank and Mount Bank. Resident DJ Mike Diver plays hip-hop you know well enough, and he’s joined by three very special guests: Monkeytown-signed producer and award-winning DJ Alex Banks; The Physics House Band’s own Mount Bank; and Mercury Prize nominee and previous Dive Slow Christmas guest, Ghostpoet.

Warehouse Moonboots – Hot on the heels of his glossy new release ‘Whatever You Need’ via French Express, we welcome the groove machine that is Moon Boots for this Warehouse event. Whilst homing from Brooklyn, the US talent truly crafted his art in Chicago. The last few years have seen him produce some of the smoothest R&B/ Disco- infused House around.

August Bank Holiday BrightonGilles Peterson – INS Events presents bank holiday special with Gilles Peterson with support from Russ Dewbury and Soul Casserole. The DJ, producer and owner of Brownswood Recordings returns to Brighton bringing you an eclectic mix of soul, jazz, house and hip hop.

Celebrating 50 years of Mod Culture – To commemorate 50 years of mod culture in Brighton,  Bruce Foxton’s From The Jam perform The Jam’s Greatest Hits along with a host of special guests including Secret Affair, The Chords, and a rare chance to see the original line-up of The Truth, plus DJ’s playing all types of Scooter Boy sounds from 60’s till present!

Sunday

A Twin Peaks Party –  Playing a David Lynch inspired sound track and with surrealist set dressing, The Haunt, will be turned into the eerie town of Twin Peaks! Expect coffee & cherry pie drinks from the Double R Diner, doppelgangers in The Black Lodge, a Miss Twin Peaks contest and of course, donuts! There will be prizes for the best costumes – come as your favourite characters, whether it be Laura wrapped in plastic, Special Agent Dale Cooper, Sheriff Harry Truman, Andy or the infamous Log Lady!

August Bank Holiday BrightonFlashfires + Jetpack Elastic + Lost Art of The Strange – Angry Badger Records & Vengeance Promotions presents a acoustic Jam session sitting somewhere on the indie/ rock spectrum. Flashfires bring their own brand of Fire Indie Disco. They are here to have a good time and everyone is invited. Unrestricted by genre, the band are all music fans with eclectic tastes and are not frightened to take risks and test out different styles and sounds in their compositions.

3D | The Grande Launch – Housed in one of Brighton’s newest, biggest and most damn right awesome venues – 3D is set to offer you nothing less than THREE arena’s of audio ecstasy, hosted by THREE of the South’s finest DJ’s in each. Not to mention a plethora of affordable drinks, outrageous party atmospheres and the most majestic crowd on the south coast.
