The sunshine is truly with us at last and there’s loads of great outdoor things to do this weekend in Brighton along with some indoor gems too in case you need some shade! Here’s our guide with everything from naked bike rides to dog shows and everything in between…


All Weekend:

Outdoor Cinema at Saltdean LidoThings to do this Weekend in Brighton – The Duke of York’s/Picturehouse is kicking off its outdoor season in Brighton at the lido with a screen beside the pool. This weekend’s films are: Fri – Ghostbusters, Sat – Ferris Bueller’s Day Off and Sun – Gravity.

Kate Bush’s Hounds of Love – Singer Lisa Abbott fronts a 10-piece band performing Kate Bush’s magnum opus Hounds of Love in its entirety, and some other choice Kate faves too. An electrifying and faithful rendition of one of the 1980’s seminal albums!

Arts and Humanities Graduate Show 2015 – For nine days the Grand Parade campus opens to the public and becomes Brighton’s biggest art gallery showcasing an array of emerging talent with a wide range of work by students from art, design and architecture courses.

Sarah Shaw ‘Shift’ – Shift’ is a brand new body of work from Sarah Shaw, featuring a wonderful selection of smaller studies, as well as some of the largest canvases the artist has ever worked on. As the title suggests, the show has a shifting aspect, reflected in both the imagery and the material qualities of the work.


Saturday:

The Level Summer FestivalThings to do this Weekend in Brighton – A one day festival in the park with heap loads of fun for all. Live music, creative workshops, great food and drink, community performances, disc golf sessions, swing dance lessons, fairground rides, children’s entertainment, Capoiera demonstrations, Flash Mon Yoga, a community market and lots more.

Jardin du Discotheque – Swimwear // Garden // Disco // Camp. This is Traumfrau’s summer party – celebrate Tropicana style. Expect a sweaty dance floor, garden dancing, outrageous drag on stage, food, art, performance, DJs.

Brighton Gay Men’s Chorus & Rainbow Chorus Hand in Hand Concert – A unique concert bringing together the best LGBT choirs from all over the UK & Ireland in musical harmony right here in Brighton. Singing a fabulous mixture of both classical music right through to popular gay anthems.

One Inch Badge Presents: Princess Chelsea + AKIINE – Princess Chelsea is the recording project of New Zealand based composer, Chelsea Nikkel. Since the release of ‘Lil’ Golden Book’ they have been touring Europe and the US building a dedicated cult-like fan base (Alt-J, Marina & The Diamonds & the guy from boy meets world are fans!)

Motorcity – A brand new Saturday club night at Komedia! A refreshing but classic mix of all the best Motown, Soul, Funk and Rock ‘n’ Roll Anthems to keep your feet stomping into the early hours.

First Floor Patterns Residency Opening Party – The opening for the bi-monthly residencies at the brand new Patterns featuring: Anthony Parasole (The Corner / MDR / Ostgut Ton), Ed Davenport aka Inland (Counterchange / Infrastructure New York), TIN MAN (live) (Acid Test), Charles Green, James Dodd (First Floor) and Donga b2b Severn Beach.


Sunday:

Brighton Naked Bike Ride 2015Things to do this Weekend in Brighton – A naked lunch, a seaside bike ride in the buff, a paddle in the sea and a naturist beach picnic! Every year since 2006, Brighton has joined World Naked Bike Rides around the world to celebrate cycling and the human body. The ride demonstrates the vulnerability of cyclists on the road and is a protest against car culture.

Bark In The Park – The Queen’s Park Dog Show, better known as Bark in the Park, bursts into life this Sunday. Brought to you by the Friends of Queen’s Park and co-sponsors Coastway Veterinary Group, this year’s Bark will feature two parallel competitions: the Fun Ring and the Pedigree Ring. Why not take a picnic and enjoy the action?

Roll Call – Sunday Reggae On The Beach – Keep the weekend rockin’ with a solid-gold session of sweet reggae sounds at Riki Tik Beach Bar, plus delicious & authentic Caribbean food available from Riki Tik Snack Shack.
