Bonfire Night has come and gone but that doesn’t mean nothing exciting is happening in our City. Brave the wind and rain and head out to some of these things to do this weekend in Brighton. With everything from rock musicals to burlesque festivals.

All Weekend:

A3 Exhibition: Artists at Phoenix BrightonThings to do this Weekend in Brighton – A showcase of the work of artists who have studios at Phoenix Brighton. Characterized by the diversity of their practices, over forty artists present their work within the ‘uniform’ format of an A3 space, with both two and three dimensional, as well as time-based work included. 

Spring Awakening: The Rock Musical – Set in late-19th century Germany, Spring Awakening explores the journey from adolescence to adulthood with poignancy and passion. Every generation, it seems, needs to act out its frustrations with those who enforce the rules. Spring Awakening is an affirmative expression of the rebellious imperatives of the Young.

Junk Is Beautiful – Junk Is Beautiful will showcase new work by artist, Sophie Dickson, presenting painting and large scale installations in a take over of the former Municipal Market. 

The Royal Pavilion Ice Rink – The most beautiful rink in the South East, opens this Saturday until the 18th January 2015. Stunning, twinkly, romantic, child-friendly… all topped off with beautiful food in the rink side bar and restaurant.


Brighton RockfestThings to do this Weekend in Brighton – A new yearly rock inspired all dayer with a stellar 8 band rock bill, local bands for local people who love their rock music, brought together under one roof. A rich mixture of hard rock, stoner, glam and even a hint of metal in there. Featuring Cavendish Sniff + Graces Collide + By Definition + Begger’z Fixx + Unbeliever + Director’s Cut + Sinister Hussy + Emersis.

Brighton Burlesque Festival 2014 – Showcasing the finest of Burlesque the South Coast has to offer. 8 Hours of stunning entertainment from the sultry traditional, to some frisky and fun, onto Neo burlesque and beyond. Unique and enthralling stalls. Mesmerising Pole Dancers, Photobooths, Prizes for best dressed attendees and more!

Reclaim The Night Brighton 2014 – Last year hundreds of people marched through Brighton to assert everyone’s right to feel safe on the streets at night. This year join in and help take a stand against street harassment and sexual violence! Starting at Brighton Train Station, march through the streets of Brighton ending up at The Sallis Benney Theatree where there’ll be a fantastic line-up of speakers, performers and short films.

Hundred Watt Club – Hundred Watt Club is taking a trip to the seaside to bring you a good old fashioned, riotous night of burlesque, cabaret & variety entertainment! With a stunning line-up of the gorgeous and grotesque, the sexy and sublime! Be warned : not for the faint hearted, strong language and adult themes employed and embraced! 

Disco Deviant Present: Motor City Drum Ensemble, Plus Pablo Contraband –  MCDE’s DJ sets, comprise of raw house and disco, flawless mixing, strong melodies and an ever building energy, taking the crowd up to an exciting and explosive climax, before switching direction with an inspired selection and perfect mix that takes things deeper.


Pascuala Ilabaca & FaunaThings to do this Weekend in Brighton – Accordion-wielding Chilean songstress Pascuala Ilabaca is a true hidden gem: A favourite on the new scene of young Chilean singer-songwriters, her music is rooted in traditional sounds but effortlessly integrates shades of jazz, pop and rock, and influences gathered in such distant places as India or Mexico.

Naked Wines Brighton Tasting – Try over 100 wines and meet your winemakers at this big Brighton wine tasting. It’s the perfect excuse to do a bit of Christmas research and stock up for the festive season. Local food stalls will also be on hand with tasty treats to help you to soak up all that booze.

Lout Presents: Bayside + Six Time Champion – Originally formed in Queens, American punk rockers Bayside have produced a string of much-adored releases and have one of the most dedicated fan bases in rock. The band has toured the world and played on multiple Vans Warped Tours. With the release of “Cult”,  the breadth of their history seems to have culminated in this sixth studio album.
