Sailor Jerry Presents: Merchandise + Theo Verney + Abattoir Blues –  Formed as a trio in Tampa, Florida in 2008, Merchandise has undergone ceaseless revision and reinvention. After putting out numerous records and tapes on independent punk labels and touring the American underground, they truly hit their stride with the LPs Children of Desire (2012), which Pitchfork hailed for its “glistening and emotive, ear- bleeding noise pop”, and Totale Nite (2013), which NME likened to “a cultural jump-start” in their 9/10 review.

Sunday:

Flyaway KatieThings to do this weekend in Brighton – Long Nose Puppets, the makers of Shoe Baby, Penguin and Arthur’s Dream Boat, bring their new show to The Old Market, based on the popular children’s book by Polly Dunbar. Katie is all alone and feeling grey. The birds in the picture on her wall look so colourful-if only Katie could be as bright as them, who knows what might happen? The show is bursting with colour, movement and puppetry. Also on at 2pm.

Barnacles – Go on a journey into a land of horn led, groove based heaviness! Barnacles is two saxes, trombone, sousaphone and drums playing the compositions of saxophonist Leroy Horns. With musical heros that include groove makers Fela Kuti, Aphex Twin and Roni Size, and arrangers Charles Mingus and Glen Miller, along with a love of improvised spontaneity- Leroy’s style is diverse and totally captivating.
