Whether you plan to spend this sunny weekend sipping a cold beer, eating ice cream to cool down or just lazing on the beach make sure you make free time for some of our top things to do this weekend in Brighton. There’s everything from festivals of sport to pop-up cinema and lots in between, have a good’un!

All Weekend:

Summer Exhibition by Barbara ShieldsBest Things to do this Weekend in Brighton: 27th - 28th June – Award-winning Brighton based artist Barbara Shields shows her brilliant and intense still life paintings and landscapes, inspired by her 25 years in Rajastan, India, at Hove’s Naked Eye Gallery. Barbara works with oils, pastels and charcoal and hopes for nothing more than to inject colour and beauty into the homes of her customers.

TAKEPART Festival – This award winning festival celebrating sport, dance and exercise returns to the city once more! Each year hundreds of fun events, activities and demonstrations take place across the city showcasing all the amazing and varied opportunities that make Brighton & Hove a great place to get active for all the family. This weekend you can try everything from Tai Chi to Frisbee! Plus don’t miss out on Bikestock on Saturday and Wild Park Youth Festival 2015 on Sunday.

Pop-Up Cinema @ Stanmer House – Stanmer House is next location for the Picturehouse Cinemas pop-up summer film screenings! Friday brings time travel favourite ‘Back to the Future’, Saturday the epic ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’ and Sunday the classic ‘Some Like It Hot’. There will be lots of treats available to purchase from Stanmer House on the day along with a beer tent, BBQ, sweets and snacks on offer.

Pop-Up Opera @ Court Garden ‘L’italiana in Algeri’ – Pop-up Opera is an innovative touring opera company dedicated to making opera enjoyable and inviting, without losing the quality of musical performance. Rossini meets Casino / Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, against a backdrop of glitz and grit at the Algiers Hotel, Nevada. The surreal and dangerous world of Las Vegas breathes new life into Rossini’s absurd exotic comedy, as love and fidelity compete against the city’s tantalising promise of endless wealth and sensory gratification.

Saturday:

‘Deli Licious’ at Brighton Open MarketBest Things to do this Weekend in Brighton: 27th - 28th June – Start licking your lips, and get your taste buds ready for a treat as ‘Deli Licious’ bring their fantastic Sussex gourmet stalls to the Open Market alongside the regular shops, stalls, galleries, cafe and market featuring everything from locally sourced produce to freshly made goods.

The Arsonists – Fires are becoming a problem in this town, but Biederman thinks he is immune. Ever the philanthropist and with a strong sense of civic duty, he gives shelter to two new guests. When they fill the attic with petrol drums, he’ll even help to set up the fuse… But who’s fooling who? Brechtian and absurdist in its themes, with a Greek chorus of Firemen, The Arsonists, at Brighton Little Theatre, gives us a unique viewpoint on the art of the con and self-deception.

Anti Nowhere League + Guests – Anti Nowhere League are not your typical English punks. The band set out on the road in 1980 to prove they could be the worst band on Gods earth loud, violent, obnoxious yobbos with one mission… to get banned from every TV show, radio station and newspapers as possible just for a laugh… See them at The Haunt this Saturday.
