Can you believe it’s already March? It seems like only yesterday we were stuffing ourselves with turkey in our Christmas jumpers! The sun has been popping his head out so let’s hope it lasts for the coming weekend which incidentally is filled with lots of fun things to do in Brighton, with everything from live music to geek-centric table-top sales!

Things to do this Weekend in BrightonAnatomies – Featuring five national and international artists, Anatomies is an attempt to explore the threshold between perception and reality and the complex relationships that interlink them. Approaching issues of representation, Matthew Broadhead, Benedetta Casagrande, Amanda Gordon, Peter Rathbone and Klara Svackova root their research in diverse sources, experimenting with the possibilities of the media of photography.

‘Made By Many Hands’ – An group exhibition of paintings, prints and drawings present by Draw Brighton, featuring a diverse range of work from a diverse range of people. The artwork has been created by artists from the Creative Future art classes at New England House and is curated by Jake Spicer.

Brighton Science Festival – Don’t miss the last weekend of this annual festival which proves there’s a lot more to science than test tubes and prime numbers. Prepare to unleash your curiosity as science comes roaring out of the lab and into the city of Brighton & Hove with hands-on demonstrations, engaging talks and live experiments.

War Stories: Voices from the First World War – It’s the last weekend of this exhibition at Brighton Museum which commemorates the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, bringing to life the wartime experiences of 15 individuals whose intensely personal memories and extraordinary stories reveal the impact of war.


One Inch Badge presents: Josef Salvat + SupportThings to do this weekend in Brighton – Josef Salvat has come seemingly out of nowhere, but then, that’s the internet for you – it makes stars out of nobodies overnight and overexposes them just as fast. The Australian singer-songwriter with the affecting voice crooning mellifluously over quirkily rhythmic accompaniments has been referred to as a cross between Morrissey and Lana Del Rey.

David Hoyle Ends LGBT History (Month) – Notorious ‘anti-drag queen’, performance artist, avant-garde cabaret artist, singer, actor and comedian, David Hoyle presents a new work to mark the end of LGBT History Month 2015.

Stewart Lee – A brand new live show with fresh material in preparation for Stewart’s next BBC2 series of Stewart Lee’s Comedy Vehicle. ‘Remains one of the best stand-ups in the country’ **** Metro.

Family Ents Presents: The Selecter – Influential and platinum-selling 2-Tone veterans The Selecter remain one of the most vital, visceral and important ska acts of all time. 2014 saw the band’s 35th Anniversary and they played festivals around the world. Support from The Tuts.

Audio Closing Party Pt. 2 with Simian Mobile Disco – Celebrate with Audio for their last night before they close for their transformation. After heading a recent residency in London, selecting the likes of Artwork, Boddika, Factory Floor, Kevin Saunderson, Juan Atkins, & Space Dimension Controller all to play alongside them, Simian Mobile Disco are back at Audio for this special rendezvous.

Femmeuary Presents… – ART, MUSIC, FILM, SPOKEN WORD, CAKE, FREE ENTRY!! For one night only Femmeuary are taking over upstairs at the Prince Albert for a night of art, poetry, spoken word, film screenings and music!

White Riot Promotions Presents – Southpaw UK + Skint Circus + NEXX + Mindofalion – Southpaw are a 5-piece band from Brighton, creating primarily Rock/Hip hop based anthems, fusing the melodic with the just down right dirty. Skint Circus are like mixing Rage Against The Machine with Skindred, NEXX are a female-fronted metal band who are nothing but shreds and talent and Mindofalion express their state of mind through a raw, organic and poetic sound.
