The Brighton Vintage and Antiques Market (BVAM) will take over the plaza every month with over 40 stall holders from all over Brighton, Lewes and London from 10.30-4pm.

Brighton has long held a history in collectibles and antiques. Today the City has one of the largest concentrations of antique/ vintage dealers and bric-a-brac shops outside London. By bringing together some of Brighton’s best dealers and those from further afield, BVAM hopes it will create a new monthly get together and ‘must-go-to’ event for all things vintage and antique.

The market itself is the brain wave of Jess Morris and Dan Williams both well know faces on the Brighton & London antiques scene:

“A few months ago Jess and I were talking about how Brighton was really missing a regular antiques market and so we thought let’s organise one! Since then we’ve really not looked back and the response from everyone has been amazing.”
Dan Williams

The recently refurbished Open Market was the ideal home for BVAM. It is just 5 minutes from Brighton station and conveniently on the edge of Brighton’s parking restrictions so come rain or shine people can come down to enjoy the covered market. With many of its resident traders also opening their stalls on Sunday, it promises to also provide a medley of cakes, ice creams, coffees and lunches to treat yourself as you leisurely browse for treasures.

“We were really excited to get the plaza at the Open Market, my grandmother used to have a fruit and veg stall there and told us that after the World War II many of the barrow boys switched their trade to antiques. With a history trading antiques, the Open Market really was the perfect home for BVAM and we’re really excited to be bringing the buzz of a regular antiques market back to Brighton.”
Jess Morris

Set to become the new Spitalfields of Brighton, BVAM promises to be a monthly treasure trove with everything from clothing to military memorabilia, jewellery to antique furniture. Names so far include Moderne Brighton, William Morris Antiques, Foxed up vintage, Jimmispy from Lille road in Fulham and Martin Kay Militaria.

Visit the BVAM facebook page /BrightonVintageAntiquesMarket for features on all the stall holders and to see glimpses of some of types of items you can expect to see there.

BVAM hopes it will turn the market into more than just an antique fair and wants to create a new monthly get together and spectacular of all things vintage. It is, therefore, offering BVAM as a free showcase for any local, vintage inspired singers, dancers and groups.  Anyone interested in performing should contact Aimée Davies:
