Top 6 Events This Weekend Brighton 27th-28th February 2016
Festival season is in the air and this weekend is alight with sparks from the Brighton Science Weekender, delicious grub at Vegfest and all night partying at music lovers event Berlin. The London Symphony Orchestra are also in town for a special night and our favourite theatre group Apollo Productions are putting on an incredible adaption of High School Musical.
The famous, huge weekender is back with a full double dose of fascinating science from a vast variety of fields. Where did HIV come from? Can psychedelic drugs cure depression? How do poisons work in the body?
Experts present their research in the theatre alongside a venue-full of stands from top universities, giving you a chance to put professors in the hot seat and get practical with interactive demos.

After it’s huge success last year, Europe’s prime vegan festival Vegfest UK is back at the Brighton Centre for a weekend of vegan food, shopping and education. Expect 200 stalls, 15 caterers, talks, cookery demos, kids activities, a vegan comedy festival, performances, a LifeWell SuperHub promoting holistic approaches to wellbeing and much, more besides.

30 local designer-makers will be clearing their studios this February, giving you the chance to grab a crafty bargain or one-off handmade item.
The sellers are all part of the Brighton Etsy Team, creating a huge variety of handmade items from jewellery and accessories to homeware, clothing and art. They will be bringing along old stock, slight seconds and one-off samples, all at brilliantly affordable prices. There will also be a selection of craft supplies to rummage through.
The event is free to come along and browse, although donations will be taken at the door (£1 suggested entrance fee), with all proceeds going to The Clock Tower Sanctuary, a charity supporting young homeless people in Brighton and Hove.

A unique night with a growing core following, Berlin is a free club night and back in full swing for 2016 with another smasher of a line-up ready for February.
It’s the brainchild of German DJ Markus Saarländer one of the Underground scene’s stealthiest artists. Markus moved to Brighton with an aim to bring the German underground to Brightonians everywhere. Come and spielen Sie mit!

A great chance to see the world famous orchestra at Brighton’s Dome playing Stravinsky’s Firebird suite. The Stravinsky who would change music forever was first glimpsed in the luminous 1910 score, The Firebird. In this blazing ballet music, Stravinsky unleashed the pictorial powers with which he would shock and enchant generations of theatregoers.

Fresh from their recent hit productions of The Crucible, #RandJ and Loserville, Apollo Productions present High School Musical, one of the most iconic Disney film musicals of all time, on stage!
Follow Troy, Gabriella and all the East High Wildcats as they negotiate the difficulties of teenage life and try to juggle the basketball championships, scholastic decathlon and the school musical.
The Argus described this production as “a riot of colour, noise and energy from the beginning, it’s a great night out”
