Constellations is coming to Brighton after a critically-acclaimed run on Broadway and the West End. The US production starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Ruth Wilson, and the UK version has equally notable stars, with Louise Brealey (Sherlock, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and Joe Armstrong (Happy Valley, Hollow Crown, The Village, Robin Hood) taking us on a journey through the boundless potential of a connection between two people.
Beginning with the pair meeting at a barbeque, multiple scenarios unfold in an exploration of the different directions a relationship could take and the influence of free will and chance on our lives. Playwright Nick Payne was inspired by nature documentaries The Elegant Universe and Vanishing of the Bees while writing the play, with quantum theory underpinning the action. Despite the thought-provoking concept, it is a love story which remains at the heart of this play which has been called ‘Genius. Powerful. Pitch-perfect’ by The Daily Telegraph.
Join them on this gripping, emotional journey at Theatre Royal this June.
