It’s here! The most talked about and exciting time for theatre every year – the Brighton Fringe! Here is our guide to the top pick of Brighton Fringe theatre shows 2016.

Brighton Fringe Theatre Shows 2016East – 88 London Road

This verse play by the wonderful Steven Berkoff, deals with growing up and rites of passage in London’s rough East End and looks deep into the heart of young people. It centres around 2 people of entirely questionable morals and behaviour yet an undeniable charm.

The unusual nature of the language allows Berkoff to give us moments of beautiful verse, alongside absolute profanity, and this is an energetic and powerful production. 18+ only.

Brought to you by Truant Company, this is a story of homophobia and bullying from award winning playwright, Billy Cowan.

A teacher finds herself in a difficult situation when she believes her student is being bullied because he is gay. She wants to help and it seems this issue runs deeper than just concern – has she experienced the same thing or does she have an ulterior motive for wanting to help. David Mamet’s fantastic play is brought to you by Pretty Villain Productions Ltd, Brighton Fringe award winners in 2014 and 2015.

This is one of my favourite plays so comes highly recommended! Depicting a sordid, unethical and illegal world of four desperate Chicago estate agents, taking advantage of prospective buyers who are none the wiser, this is based on Mamet’s own experience. This Pulitzer Prize and Tony award winning play is one not to be missed!
